Brief History Of The Rock Garden

The Rock Garden was laid out in the year 1988 to honor the famous freedom fighter Ganga Maya Adhikari, who belonged to this place.

Ganga Maya had dedicated her life to fight for the rights of Nepali people and also founded an organization called Rastriya Prajatantra Party. In 2004 she was arrested on charges of conspiracy of murder and was later released on bail.

The park has been developed on 10 acres of land donated by the Maharaja of Cooch Behar as his summer house. The garden also features a cave, which was built by Ganga Maya Devi for her son who was killed by the British police.

Location Of The Rock Garden

This garden is located at a distance of 7 km away from the city center and is situated at an altitude of 2134 m.

The garden is located in near the Jalapahar Railway Station. This garden offers a peaceful ambiance to the tourists. Dotted by a series of caves, it is an ideal place to spend some time with your family members.
